Sunrise from our apartment in Queenstown. Magic place, with views of mountains, lake and trees. At every time of day, the light changes and the shadows on the mountains shift. Hundreds of us were here for the Remarkable Symposium. Great classes, lectures, entertaining gala dinner at the top of the hill. Enjoyed it all. On our first wake-up, the snow was down very low and it was very chilly. It soon warmed up though.
Chris and I managed to get away for Easter: first we went to Christchurch. There's nothing like a common tragedy to pull people together. Without exception, everyone was helpful, friendly, chatty and trying very hard to be upbeat, despite the ravage of the city centre and the writing-off of so many residential buildings. Big decisions ahead for a lot of people. Do they stay? Rebuild? Will the city centre be relocated? We experienced tremors while we were there. Very uncomfortable thinking any one of them could be another large one.
One thing leads to another, as we all know. So while we waited for the new windows to be made, the asbestos sheeting was removed, flooring put in, washing line moved and then it was time for Easter. And a break.
I have always been obsessed with creation and colour. These days I play with glass and fabric as much of the time as I can. The rest is taken up with a little paid architectural work, family and playing with our two cats.
