Finally I have finished my 24" square piece for the group quilt. Once I got going, I enjoyed using the technique Mariya Waters showed us in class at the Remarkable Symposium. As always, I can see things I would change if I were doing it again. For now, it is my souvenir from our trip. With kete fabric for binding and toi toi.
Lovely two-day workshop with Gloria Loughman 'Lighting Up My Landscape', in this case rain falling out of clouds at sunset as Chris and I drove over Kings Avenue Bridge. Possibly more quilting and then binding to follow.
I have come home with new energy and now it is time to really get going on my group theme 24" piece, topic "Water". Using my new technique, thanks to the Mariya Waters class I took at the Remarkable Symposium, my stabiliser is gridded up and now fused to the back of all my coloured fabrics. Today I get to start trimming and snipping and glueing it all together. Lots of pieces, lots of work to do. Check back later for progress!
That pile of bricks and blocks wasn't there last week. So although I am suffering from a clicky thumb on one hand and tendonitis on the other arm I have continued to lift and pile up the blocks etc, one by one. And the washing line is back in full use. Hooray! Lots still to do of course but back on track. The holes in the lawn are filled in, lots of bamboo cut down, even removed to the green waste drop off.
I have always been obsessed with creation and colour. These days I play with glass and fabric as much of the time as I can. The rest is taken up with a little paid architectural work, family and playing with our two cats.
