This is the delicate face of our newest resident. Chantilly is a silver tabby Oriental girl who is sweet natured and playful. She has lots of toys and shares them and all the baskets around the house with Coco the Bengal cat. When it is not eating time or playtime, it is basket time. Most of which will be spent sleeping. However, wrestling is a favourite occupation too. It's a lovely sight, our gold and silver in harmony.

Since we learnt that one of our favourite young people had got into the JET program and would be off to Japan later this month, I have been busy getting his quilt together. Piecing takes no time at all but this one involved lots of hand sewing, making it indeed a very personal quilt. He is absolutely delighted with it, always a marvellous reward. The quilting will follow, done by Shaw-ly Sensational, the quilter being the mother of another of the young man's friends. Yes, it is a small world and we love the overlapping nature of friendships and interests that we have built up between us all.
Although I loved being away, visiting new cities, seeing lovely people, looking at buildings and spectacular scenery, I do love being home again. I've had a few opportunities to get into the glass studio. Today the sun shone and my unheated room was very comfortable. Until the sun went down and the temperature plummeted. I was very happy to come in to the house for dinner at 7.30 and will enjoy a hot shower later to fully warm up. Above, then, is the first of three days of effort. I'm already working on some jewellery, ready for local markets this month and next .
After a professional lifetime of admiration, I finally visited Barcelona. We went to all the buildings open to us. The Sagrada Familia was wonderful; the light-filled space and the colour and the sheer beauty of the ceiling were amazing. I loved the exuberance of the tiles in the Parc Guell. I want to see some of that round my place.
Many happy little Vegemites live here - we have a working kitchen with only minor bits to add or paint, our lovely large studio/bedroom is operating, we have 7 in house, the wheelchair access is working great and I am sooooooooo happy, relieved, now I'm looking forward to other things occupying my life.
I have a new penfriend, in the old parlance, to whom I have been sending photos of the quilts I've been making using the never-ending-strip technique. It comes by many other names, and Kay Koeper Sorensen's tutorials (first two links) for them are below so why don't you try one and send Kay a photo of the result? Perhaps, like me, you won't be able to stop at one either! (She named my quilt above and I've decided to use it.)
